Michelle started working in Ndabeni area in 2006, when Matjana Preschool was just a dream. She helped get the school up and running in 2007 and assisted teacher Ncobile teaching the first class of students, while living with a fami
ly in the area. Since then she's moved to the nearest town Manzini to work, but she continues to help with the school's fundraising by editing the newsletter and writing applications to organisations like the US Embassy which funded the school's kitchem.

In 2012 Michelle received a scholarship from Monash University in her home country Australia to do research about the preschool and other community development work that's happening in the area. She will work with a group of researchers from the community to document what's already been done and find out more about what members of the community want to do next.
